Bright Ideas in Ageing

2025 Seed Grant Competition

We want to empower bold, innovative ideas and help them take flight with seed funding.

Do you have an idea that could spark the next breakthrough in ageing research?

Our initiative is about more than networking: it’s about empowering researchers to launch innovative projects that can grow into major collaborations. The Bright Ideas in Ageing - Seed Grant Competition is your chance to turn ideas into action. We’re offering up to £6k seed funding to support projects that advance our understanding of ageing and age-related diseases.

How it works

1
Review eligibility criteria

See criteria below.

2
Build your team (optional)

Collaboration across labs, disciplines, or institutions is encouraged and will score a bonus - but single-lab proposals are welcome too.
If you’d like to team up, now is the time! Reach out to colleagues or use our ideas forum.

3
Submit your idea

Once your team & idea is ready, register your proposal via our form - it takes just a few minutes.

Tell us about what you'd like to do, how you will use the 6k, and what this will enable you to do in the future. Submissions will be reviewed confidentially by our panel.

4
Pitch at the symposium

A panel will shortlist the most exciting ideas. Finalists will pitch their projects live at the London Ageing Research Network Symposium in front of our audience and judges.

5
Win funding to kickstart your project

The winner will be chosen through a combination of panel scoring and live audience voting - and announced during the closing session.

6
Present your work at our 2026 event

We will invite you to present your work at our 2026 Symposium.
